From Skye to the Studio
Dear friends,
It’s been a while since my last update, but I promise I’ve been keeping busy! The last few months have been a beautiful whirlwind.
I made it back to the Isle of Skye, one of my absolute favorite places on earth. There is nothing quite like being surrounded by that breathtaking, water-bound landscape to quiet the daily noise.
This trip was extra magical—lambing season was in full swing (yes, I played with the baby lambs!), and we were treated to at least one rainbow a day. It was the perfect reset to prime myself for what came next.
Freshly inspired from Skye, I headed straight into the studio in Berlin to record my upcoming album, Belonging. We just wrapped up the sessions, and I can't wait to share it with you when it releases this autumn.
This past June, I had the pleasure of participating in the Berlin Academy of American Music’s workshop for young composers. We had a wonderful chat about "Finding Your Voice," and their talent and energy was inspiring.
A heartfelt congratulations to pianist Carolyn Enger on the release of her beautiful new album, American Ethos. It’s a fantastic collection of American piano works, and I’m so honored that she included my pieces, The Awakening and Adieu.
Between the new album launch, upcoming concerts, and a few other fun projects in the works, this autumn is going to be a busy one.
Until then, I hope you are all soaking up the gorgeous, lazy days of summer!
Keep cool,
Craig
April showers bring May flowers!
Dear friends,
There is so much truth in the power of a yearly Renewal. It is that time again in Berlin, where the cold gray skies, begin to warm up, the sun comes out, and the nurturing rains begin. I hope this renewal will take hold and lead us away from the darkest days of the past winter.
I am so happy to share with you a recent Berlin Conversation with a most interesting pianist/conductor/ musician Benjamin Hochman. It's a great conversation, enjoy.
With Artemis II, I am excited to share with you a new composition Spacewalker.
Enjoy the upcoming burst of fresh energy!
Craig
Welcoming 2026 with Music, Meaning, and Belonging
Dear friends,
We are less than a month into 2026, and it has already been one of irrational insecurity. Within the context of this turmoil, it has been difficult to stay focused on what I find important: decency, respect for others, and Love.
So this year, I have been focusing on my music and my creative life.
I am happy to share the first Berlin Conversations episode of 2026 with the renowned piano technician Robin Kallmeier. I hope you find the discussion about pianos, listening, and music as enlightening as I did.
